What is the DIME Method?
DIME stands for Debt, Income, Mortgage, and Education — four buckets that, added together, give a straightforward term insurance cover target: enough to clear all debts and the mortgage immediately, replace a chosen number of years of income, and fully fund your children's education, all without touching whatever cover you already hold.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many years of income should I choose to replace?
Most planners suggest 10-15 years, or however long it will take your youngest dependent to become financially independent - choose a number you can justify for your own family situation rather than defaulting to a round figure.
Do I include my spouse's income if we're both earning?
No - this calculator sizes cover for one person's income at a time; if both spouses work, run it separately for each income so both are adequately covered.
